Senior Reflection

By Anastasia Salazar

As the months slowly dwindle, seniors are beginning to prepare for their final time at Minarets High School. Transitioning from the familiar halls to the unknown world beyond. Among the academics and cherished memories, a bittersweet realization dawns upon them, their high school journey is coming to an end. With each passing day, anticipation is mixed with nostalgia, prompting seniors to reflect on the experiences that have shaped them, along with the adventures that lie ahead.

Senior, Abbigail Goodwin reflects on her time at Minarets, feeling a mix of bittersweetness and excitement for the next chapter in her life. During our interview, Abbigail expressed her deep appreciation for all of the office staff, the English teacher, Mr. Vaughan, and the History teacher, Mr. Kelly. Their support enabled her to achieve all of her goals. Abbigail was also able to identify her most memorable moment in high school, stating that dressing up for “Met Gala Monday,” for homecoming week, during her sophomore year was the highlight of her year and still is.

Finally, Abbigail was able to reminisce on her decision to come to Minarets. She states, “I chose to come to Minarets mainly because of the equestrian team and FFA. However, after touring the school, I loved the drama department's teacher, Kayla West, and I was fascinated by the Stagecraft class she had because I was interested in special effects makeup at the time.” Through navigating challenges and embracing opportunities presented, Abbigail was able to experience personal growth, and she can now embark on the new adventures that are among her.

Another senior who was able to reflect on her special memories at Minarets was Milly Emerson. When discussing her thoughts about leaving the very school that has shaped her, she stated, “Leaving Minarets will be weird and maybe a little scary at first. Coming here 5 days a week is a routine and to change up the routine is just different. It will be a big change.” It is scary to leave a familiar place, but it also opens the door to new opportunities and experiences. Milly was also able to reflect on her most memorable moment since attending Minarets. She explains, “A memorable moment from high school is when Mr. Davis started singing out of nowhere in class. It brightens my day.”

These two seniors' reflections have shown all of the little things that ultimately make attending Minarets so great! The little things matter, and as their time comes to an end, Abbigail and Milly will be able to continue reflecting on their joyous high school years, while also making new memorable memories as time goes on.
