Applying to the California Scholarship Federation (CSF) will look different this year with distance learning in place, but students should not feel deterred from sending in an application.
CSF helps students become more involved in school, even from a distanced learning environment. It also has additional academic benefits, according to CSF advisor Katie Morgan. “[CSF] also helps you get recognition at graduation. It also looks good on college applications, and there are also scholarship opportunities.”
Traditionally, students fill out a paper application, attach their previous semester’s report card, and submit it to the office. This year, however, a google form link has been sent out by Morgan to students’ and parents’ email. The eligibility requirements will remain the same though. Students must meet a minimum number of points determined by course load and grades on the CSF application to qualify for acceptance.
When speaking with CSF president and senior Johanna Ziegler about what the club’s plan is for this year with distance learning, she answered, “The goal of CSF this year more than anything is to kind of facilitate a community outside of our normal classes... even if we’re not exactly able to do our normal service projects this year, we’re still able to create this environment where kids can meet others like them even if it’s just for thirty minutes between classes.” With this new goal in mind, CSF will be accepting applications until Oct. 9 at 4:00 p.m. The link to apply to CSF is below: https://bit.ly/minaretscsf
