Updated: May 21, 2020

The Minarets cheer team has had a great year so far! Led by head varsity coach Ashley Redman, head JV coach Emily Cox as well as Sarah Takash, the competition assistant coach. This year’s captains are junior Maegen Redman and senior Shelby Pring.

When asked their thoughts on the year this is what some of the girls running the cheer program had to say. “Personally, I think our team has only continued to grow stronger through the years. We have worked very hard and bonded as a family since cheer is almost a year round sport. We have made great memories, and will continue to grow and get stronger in the upcoming years.” Junior Maegan continued, “It is so exciting to watch the teams grow together and build on each other’s strengths. Creating memories that will last a lifetime. A year round sport can be a challenge and these girls work together very well,” states coach Redman.

This year cheer has cheered for the football season and are moving onto cheering for basketball this coming Monday. They are also planning on cheering for volleyball and soccer this year.

Cheer has only competed in one competition so far, but are continuing their competition season throughout the month of February. Cheer is planning on competing in one competition a month.

Next year they are planning on growing the team and supporting the school as well as the community as much as possible. They will continue with their competition team to showcase the school and their skills throughout the state of California.

Cheer’s competition took place at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California on November 4, 2018. The competition ran all day with the many teams that were competing. Minarets cheer competed against two other teams in their division. “We had two and a half minutes to give it all we have on the floor, and we ended up getting first, and having fun while we did so,” stated cheer captain, Maegen Redman.

When asked about Minarets’ cheer competition team, this is what Varsity coach, Ashley Redman had to say, “Our competition team has been working hard on our routine and showed great at our first competition in November. We brought home 1st place and qualified for Nationals in Vegas. We plan to continue competing through the month of February.”
