Dungeons and Dragons Comes to Minarets

Updated: May 20, 2020

Ever wanted to live another life? Now you can, as an adventurer in the DnD Club! DnD or commonly known as Dungeons and Dragons is a role-playing board game where you team up with friends to defeat monsters and collect treasure in a fantasy world.

The newest club at Minarets will be focusing on the classic 1974 table top game where students can roleplay as delvers and adventures in a brave new world.

You’re probably thinking this is cool and all but how do you play Dungeons and Dragons? Maybe you’re bored and looking for a new hobby, maybe a friend invited you to play and you don’t know what’s going on, maybe you saw a game set in a store and bought it for no explicit reason.

The game requires first and foremost for you to make a character which you can do in an online generator. You have to pick a race, ethnicity, class, generate stats, and pick a favored weapon.

For someone entirely new to fantasy this might be confusing, so for these people I would recommend looking at art for DnD and pick a character that looks the coolest or most interesting!

While it would take paragraphs to explain the game in its entirety; the best way to understand the game is to sit down, grab a character sheet, and play. However weird and funny the game and it’s players may seem, from personal experience it’s best to learn as you go.

The most commonly asked question about DnD is “how long will it take?” like many board games it can last a few hours however unlike most board games the players will meet up later and start again where they left off.

Think of it like a show on Netflix, you liked one episode, don’t you want to see what’s going to happen next? And like shows on Netflix it is perfectly reasonable to see one episode and not continue with the series if you happened to not enjoy it.

The first thing, and a personal favorite thing to do is create a character. While you can simply generate a random one, I prefer to give my character a backstory, morals, fears, phobias to give depth to my character, it’ll also encourage you to come back for a later game, making me ask questions such as, “what will happen to my character?” “how can my character survive in this world?” “how will my character interact with the other characters and the world?”.

According to the adviser and the DM (Dungeon Master), Mr. Regonini "the game is at capacity. But they will be recruiting the start of next school year."
