The Memories of 2019

Updated: Sep 27, 2020

Every year of high school there are new challenges and new memories. Another year has passed with our mustangs accomplishing their goals and expanding their horizons. Let’s see how the students progressed this year and take a minute to reflect on 2019:

Ayden Pires, a sophomore who came from Liberty High School this year, mentioned just how different Minarets High School is from what he is used to. “The old school way of learning of sitting down being quiet and getting a homework assignment was not something I liked but at Minarets everything is more social. Plus the projects are more realistic.” Attending a project-based school, it is vital to collaborate with a team and to be professional and hardworking in order to succeed. It's also important for us to remember to always be friendly and open to newcomers just as we have this year.

Let’s see what the upperclassmen thought of this year. Turning to Connor Finnegan, a junior involved in the Media Club, he described his year by saying “This has been on of my best years and I feel like I connected with my friends more. This year has definitely been eventful. I actually decided what I want to do in the future, which is to work to be a mechanic.” High school is a time of growth and it takes time to know what you want for your future. No worries, there is time to learn, make mistakes, and make decide. Being as young as we are, it is only fair that we go our own pace on deciding our futures.

As the year comes to an end, it is time to say farewell to our seniors. Each year brings a new group of students to Minarets, which brings its own change. Senior Carynn Steer mentioned how much this school has changed and discussed how the right attitude helps a lot: “A huge part of high school is staying strong and positive.”

Four years can go by in a breeze and for the seniors who have two weeks until graduation it is only natural for there to be a little fear. Senior Christian Varner shared “This year was different from every other year; it was relax but then also chaotic. Getting caps and gown made you realize how real things are and how close you are to graduating.” There are not only nerves, but also a sense of gratitude for the teacher who have helped them over the last four years. Varner was quick to thank English teacher Michael Vaughan “Shout Out to Vaughan , the friend teacher, he treats you with respect. You can talk to him and get your work done.”
