Spiderman No Way Home release: a good addition to the franchise?



To the excitement of Marvel fans everywhere, the new Spider-Man movie was released in theaters on Dec. 17 of 2021. Here's insight on long-time watchers and new viewers.


Sony released two sneak peeks of the new movie, a trailer, and a teaser before it was released. The teaser kept the plot very hidden with clips of regular Marvel characters until Dr. Otto Octavius, a character from Tobey Maquire’s Spider-Man movies, was introduced. The trailer further elaborated and included obvious references to the story arcs from past Spider-Man media, including the movies starring Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.



Spider-Man: No Way Home, which broke almost all of Sony’s previous movie records, grossed $405 million in domestic sales. The movie was funded on a budget of $200 Million, and ended up being two hours and 28 minutes long. It is no surprise that such a popular franchise would of course get such big action surrounding it and its making.


Because the movie premiered on Dec. 17, right before Christmas, there were many people talking about it online, and that means many spoilers.


Sophomore Madison Mikkelson stated, “I didn’t watch it. I’m not really interested in seeing the movie because I’ve already seen a lot of spoilers.”


This was another reason why a lot of previous Spider-Man fanatics also skipped watching the movie.



That being said, many people thought very highly of the movie after they’d watched it, including sophomore Kat Uribe.


“I thought the trailer made it better because I didn’t know they were bringing back some of the older characters from the other Spider-Mans', so that made me even more excited for the movie.”

Although the movie revealed a great deal of new information, it still left many plots and cliffhangers of information, which leads fans to wonder: What does the future look like for Peter Parker?
