Softball Begins!

Updated: May 17

by Luke Little

With the new semester started, the spring sports are back in full force, which includes softball. Softball just started earlier this week and the team this year appears strong willed and ready to play. The new coach, Coach Kamalani hopes to create a strong team this year.

The current 2nd baseman, senior Izabella Parada says, I really think we are going to do well this year. We lost some players last year but we gained some this year to compensate. We are going to need some more practice to build our bond as a team before we play games but we already work very well together so that shouldn’t be too much trouble. We all have very high spirits and expectations for the year.”

The team starts off each practice with warm ups and stretching, getting their arms warm. Then they begin with the batting machine to practice their swing and batting. The team then goes into scrimmages against themselves to simulate games and get ready. All in preparation for the upcoming season.

With every good team, softball has some rivals. The team hopes to beat Caruthers this year along with YHS. The team this year is going to do some fundraisers for funding the team with the snack shack and some other plans that are still being figured out by the team. The goals for the team this year are high, they hope to work hard to be victorious throughout their league and to create an unbeatable bond in the inner workings of the team.

If you have any thoughts of joining softball, do so now! The team would love to have you!
