Senior Spotlight: Morgan Pelowski

Updated: Jun 4, 2021

by Delaeny Stevenson

With so many opportunities at Minarets, senior Morgan Pelowski has found many ways to shine throughout the past four years, truly finding herself through all of the clubs and extracurriculars she has encountered. Pelowski explains, “Minarets has really prepared me for life.”

Pelowski has been involved in many different activities since her freshman year, including varsity volleyball, the equestrian team, and the Future Farmers of America (FFA). Pelowski explains, “FFA is really my passion and through FFA I found what I want to do in life.” Because of her time with the Minarets FFA program, Pelowski plans to go to college and pursue an agriculture degree. Kristi Mattes, an agriculture educator here at Minarets, has helped her with that goal by always pushing her to try her best and be better, according to Pelowski.

Pelowski cherishes the time outside of extracurriculars as well, saying how she’s had some great memories through her four years of high school, whether it be going to the football games or dances or simply just seeing her friends at school. One of her favorites though was as a sophomore when she and her team won the state championship in Parliamentary Procedure. “There were thousands of people watching and getting the feeling of winning something big like that was just awesome,” said Pelowski.

Even in this pandemic, Pelowski is grateful for all of the activities people have put together for the seniors to still have “the golden senior year.” Such events include the senior drive-in movie night, senior spotlight articles, and a class-wide scavenger hunt. “It has been so great seeing everyone and getting these opportunities to still have a fun senior year,” Pelowski says.

As Pelowski moves ahead into the next chapter of her life, she often reflects on a quote from history teacher Ben Regonini, “Ask for forgiveness, not permission.” Pelowski explained that this quote is powerful to her. “To me, it means just go and do what you want. Don’t ask people if it is ok,” she says. “It’s your life. Just have fun.”
