With 2020 coming to a close, signaling one semester left before graduation, senior Grace Hansen reflects on the many ways Minarets has impacted her and changed her for the better.
Involved in many different areas like leadership, the Glissaders Club [hiking], the Fellowship of Christian Athletes [FCA], the California Scholarship Federation [CSF], and volleyball, Hansen has taken away numerous experiences and lessons from her time at Minarets, and each activity holds a special place in her heart.
Hansen feels that each year has taught her something new and pushed her in many ways. For example, freshman year taught her not to overthink, sophomore year taught her to step out of her comfort zone, junior year taught her not to procrastinate, and senior year so far has taught her to enjoy life. She explains that senior year has taught her to “enjoy life in the moment, don’t worry about what’s happening tomorrow because life moves a lot faster than you think.”
Minarets has not only prepared her academically for college and the rest of her future, but it has taught her life lessons. Hansen states that Minarets showed her “to always stay true to myself.” Hansen has a reputation for being a light and source of energy at Minarets. Her positivity has always shined through the campus, and her time at Minarets has increased that and helped her to be her more authentic self.
According to Hansen, what makes the school so special is the emphasis it places on positivity. While there was no one person that helped her through the years of high school, she felt like she could talk to anybody. To her, Minarets was and will always be more of a family than a high school. It is an experience she will carry around with her for the rest of her life.
