Rooted

By Eva Clinton

On March 1, the Historic Coarsegold Village welcomed a new local business, Rooted! But what exactly is Rooted? What do they sell? A certified farmers' market cooperative, Rooted supports other local businesses by providing them with a storefront to sell their goods, produce, jewelry, and more. One room hosts fresh products such as strawberries, garlic, and cilantro. They of course have much more than that. The other room has handmade gifts, from candles, soap, and jewelry. And if you head out back they have potted plants, herbs, flowers, and veggies.

Rose Morgan, the owner of Rooted, is a Minarets alumni. She graduated back in 2016, so over eight years ago when Minarets was still new and fresh. Rose’s goal is to bring fresh and local food to the community to share knowledge, skills, and crafts that emphasize a sense of down-home self-reliance and creativity. “The reception from the community has been nothing but positive, we get a lot of ‘we needed this!’Kind of comments and the collective has earned over $35,000 in the first two months- that money is then distributed to our local farmers, bakers, artists, and craftsmen increasing our efforts to better the local economy.”

Rooted holds certified farmers markets every Friday morning from 10 am to 2 pm and a cultivated fun and community from 4 pm to 8 pm. Rooted hosts art shows every fourth Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. They are also offering gallery space for artists and they have art classes. This summer, they’re planning to host homesteading skill demonstrations as well.

Rose can’t wait to see the growth in the future and her favorite part is her feeling like a part of the community. She loves being able to run things the way she wants to and being her boss in running her business. Rose can do this as well as be with her family and support her daughters.

Rooted is such a cute little part of the Coarsegold community and we should all try to find some time to go and support this Minarets alum. To learn more about Rooted, visit their website. See you at Rooted!
