New Staff Feature: Tiffany York

Updated: Jul 12, 2021

Earlier this semester, Minarets welcomed another new member to the staff! Tiffany York, a new office secretary, has not been at Minarets long but says, “It's been awesome! The staff here is super friendly, and everyone has been really helpful.”

Before coming to Minarets, York previously worked at Spring Valley Elementary School before ultimately, she made the decision to move schools while still remaining in the same district. “I worked at Spring Valley as an instructional aide for the last three years,” said York. “I love working for Chawanakee Unified. There is such a great sense of community. My son Evan is a freshman here at Minarets, and my daughter Kaydence is in fourth grade at Spring Valley, and my youngest, Violet, will be starting TK [Transitional Kindergarten] in a little over a year, so it has been great to be close to them. Minarets has such a great vibe. It just felt like a natural next step.”

York says she appreciates both the atmosphere of the school and the community at large. “I think it's such a special thing just to live in a small community like ours, and even more special when you get to work in that community too. It just makes you feel like you are a part of something bigger. I think it's just a very valuable and rewarding experience.”

With that being said, her position as secretary is far from normal right now. When asked how her work routine has adapted to pandemic restrictions, York answered, “Right now there is a lot less in-person interaction. Also, having to wear a mask all the time. I miss seeing people's smiles.”

But despite the challenges, York remains optimistic. Minarets can’t wait to see what York brings to the campus and community!
