Movie Night With The Seniors

Article by: Kaydence Holmes and Priya Cheema

The Senior Drive-in Movie Night on Tuesday, Oct. 13 was a resounding success according to both students and coordinators of the event. During these unprecedented times, seniors have struggled to participate in normal senior activities, making the movie night at the Madera Drive-in Movie Theater all the more special. With contributions from parents like Rhonda Corippo, Sara Pillsbury, Michele Shattuck, and Virginia and George Cummings, seniors were able to attend a fun night filled with food, gifts, and movies like Coco and The War with Grandpa.

In total, 40 seniors attended the event. Parent coordinator Michele Shattuck explained, “We came up with this idea because we have to incorporate the seniors and do something for them, but we wanted to make sure they can practice socially distancing.” Senior Shelby Graff, an attendee, said, “I thought it was a really good idea, and it was a great way to bring all the seniors together.”

Although this pandemic has thrown incoming seniors for a loop, it is encouraging to see that they are finding ways to social distance but also have a memorable time during their final year of high school.
