Minarets FFA Spring Banquet

Minarets FFA put on the annual Spring Banquet on May 28, 2019, which is the biggest banquet of the year for our chapter. This event is how Minarets FFA honors all of its students and supporters from the school and community as well as celebrates its success from the year. The Spring Banquet is filled awards including honorary members, blue and gold supporters, distinguished service award, star discovery member star green hand award, star chapter farmer award, top 8th grade award, top freshman award, top sophomore award, top junior award, top senior award, proficiency recognition, judging team proficiency, point awards, the golden hammer award, the FFA workhorse award, senior recognition:

  • Honorary members are those farmers, school superintendents, principals, members of boards of education, chapter advisors, teachers, staff members in agricultural education, business people, and others who are helping to advance agricultural education and the FFA and they are voted in at any meeting or convention. This year's honorary members were Sara Pillsbury, counselor Claudia Vandenburg, Todd Sheller, Jodie & Kenny Warnock, Lexi Lanfranco, counselor Jessica Chacon, Brett Mercer, Stacy Anselmo, Don Vasconcellos, and Dana Poore.

  • Our blue and gold supporters are those who have continued support our FFA chapter and they included Scott and Julie Jobinger, Tyffany Basila, Cyndi Wristen, Teresa Spencer, teacher Katie Morgan.

  • The Distinguished Service Award is given to those that embody the FFA motto "Living to Serve", which were Ponderosa Telephone and Tammy Camacho.

  • The special gifts award goes to the members of our community that have put time and recourses towards our FFA chapter. This honor was awarded to Ray and Diana Rezendes, Autumn Alford, Laurie Fringer, Jim Mattes, principal Daniel Ching, Heidi Mitchell, and Luanne Silkwood.

  • The Star Discovery Member is meant for a middle schooler who has strong ties to our FFA chapter, which was awarded to Lucas Rezendes and Adrienne Hall.

  • The Star Greenhand Award goes to freshmen who have shown great promise and put in even greater effort in the first year of being in FFA. Freshmen Lane Sheehan and Jordan Basila were awarded this great honor.

  • The Star Farmer Award is the second year version of the previous award and sophomores Jake Dowell and Morgan Pelowski won this award.

  • Proficiency awards and judging team awards go to those who have participated in an SAE project or been apart of a judging team.

  • The Golden Hammer Award goes to one student in the AG Mech program that has demonstrated technical prowess and put forth the best projects that they could and was awarded to junior Liam Seielstad.

  • Junior Kate Hough won the Special Recognition Award and adviser Sweet put it best: "This year we added a position to our agriculture leadership class, the Website Editor. Kate was named the editor in the fall and throughout the entire year, she has worked tirelessly to create a brand new site that will be rolling out next year. Kate, thank you for your creativity, dedication, and commitment to showing everyone what this chapter and members do and who we are. The next editor will have some big shoes to fill!"

  • The FFA Workhorse Award is presented to a student who has worked hard to ensure the success of the chapter’s activities throughout the year. Be it in the classroom, at meetings, or working with projects, they always make sure that the job is done, this award went to junior Hailie Warnock.
