Minarets Abroad: Going Around the World Again!

Updated: Sep 27, 2020

by Derek Ray

Minarets Abroad has been taking students all over the world since 2014, wether its Europe or the South Pacific. On Friday Sep. 20, 2019, Minarets Abroad announced that the students will have the opportunity to go on a nine day trip to Italy and Greece in the summer of 2021.

As stated by history teacher Katie Morgan, “I think students will be impacted by the different cultures and languages that we will encounter in these two countries as compared to the United States. The student admission price is currently $4,220 and the adult price is $4,710. Also the dates we were hoping to arrange for the trip were from June 15-24, but the exact dates haven't been made official yet, so the trip could be take place anytime in June 2021.”

Many meetings will be held before the trip takes place and in those meetings, overall prices, itinerary plans, airfare, and requirements for the trip will be discussed by teacher Morgan The price may seem dazzlingly high, but it includes flights, hotels, activities and more. You can also get yourself a head start on fundraising the amount needed to be met before the trip takes place if you sign up early.

Administrator Patrick Wilson also added, “Italy and Greece are the birthplaces of modern government and democratic society. The ideas and culture handed down from these societies has had a lasting impact to this day. The amazing architecture and paintings and sculptures are worth the trip alone. The interesting people you will meet will be an added bonus. The best way to learn about anything is to experience it. Visiting place we learn about in school is a magnificent way to really understand other cultures and broaden our horizons. The world is a big place! This is a great way to get some early college credit! You can participate in travel learning and get some units while you travel!”

The trip won’t happen for over a year so there is plenty of time to plan everything out and raise money for your passports and other important necessities. Of course, before you consider these things, be sure to discuss everything teacher Katie Morgan talked about with a parent or legal guardian.

So if you’re interested to seeing Italy and Greece, visit the website or contact teacher Katie Morgan.

You don’t want to miss out on this great opportunity to see another side of the world because this trip could be a once in a lifetime moment.
