The 2021/2022 school year is almost a quarter of the way done, meaning it was recently homecoming season. Minarets celebrates homecoming by nominating students for Mustangs Royalty, but what is Mustang Royalty? It is essentially Minarets homecoming king and queen, only done a little differently. The nominees are chosen by staff and elected by students. The staff bases their choices on the student's citizenship and if they show all of the Minarets Cs, and involvement in the school.
Minarets hold their students to high standards when it comes to citizenship. The Minarets Cs are the guidelines and expectations for students here at Minarets. The Six Minarets Cs include Communication, Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Competency, and Community. All of these skills are a part of our Mustangs spirit that we are so proud of. Dr.Ching and staff encourage the student every chance they get to engrave these principles into their everyday life. I can strongly say that we have a very strong student body.
The nominees for lower classmen were sophomores Joshua Wolford, Daniel Stevenson, Violet Bellasairo, and Acacia Edeluchel. For upperclassmen, the nominees were seniors Lane Sheehan, Jonah Ewalt, Jadyn Stafford, and Hazel Taintor.
This year, the winners for lower classmen were sophomores Daniel Stevenson and Violet Bellisario and for upperclassmen were seniors Jadyn Stafford and Jonah Ewalt.
As Minarets has spectacular students, it must have been hard to pick these individuals.
Sophomore Daniel Stevenson, one of the lower classman winner, has been involved in The boy's soccer team since his freshman year and is an asset to the team. The Minarets community describes Stevenson as a very intelligent individual and is eager to help others.
Violet Bellisario, the other lower classman female winner, is a strong-willed and bright student. She has been involved in Leadership and does all she can to keep the campus the best it can be. Without a doubt, Violet is a very accomplished student that has a kind heart.
Jadyn Stafford, one of the upperclassman winner, mentioned several things that she has done through Minarets in her years at this school, including her involvement in varsity soccer, ASB, National Honors Society (NHS), KSF, Key Club, Yearbook, and Leadership. The school community says that she is a very bright and bubbly person and is an outstanding student at Minarets.
Senior Jonah Ewalt, the other upperclassmen male winner, is a man of outstanding character and high morals. Jonah does his part around campus by having a contagious positive personality that can not be ignored. Jonah states “I've understood that it's more important for them to have someone there, than for me to stay comfortable around people I already know. Also, positive and joyful energy is contagious and spreads to others around you. I push myself to be positive and joyful no matter what others may be thinking of me because it's more important for me to spread love, joy, and positive vibes to others than for me to stay where I'm comfortable. This I could never do without Jesus by my side.”
Congratulations to all these hardworking students, and many can agree that Minarets has a distinguished student body.
