Making the most out of childhood is one of the smartest decisions one can make, and Senior Kalé King has been doing just that. Ever since the beginning of his high school experience, he has been making the most of the opportunities that Minarets has to offer.
King has been involved in multiple extracurricular activities such as the National Honors Society (NHS), the California Scholarship Federation (CSF), and leadership, and Key Club. After four years of hard work, he became president of CSF and vice president of NHS and Key Club. For six years he has also been volunteering for the Boys and Girls Club in Oakhurst, and earned his first internship through that. He also recently earned the 2021 Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year of Fresno and Madera Counties.
King has also been in speech and debate to help him in this future goal he has. He fills up his time with school activities and hobbies which help make him stand out.
Over lockdown, King says he has had his ups and downs, “COVID had its downsides but at the same time I tried to make the most of it.”
Academically, it was a rollercoaster for his grades. At first, he started out well. Near the middle of lockdown, his grades dipped. But in the end, he still finished strongly.
Socially, he was cut off from many of his friends so he had time to develop himself more. Over time, he picked up the bass guitar and started working out. He also gained a new passion for running. When sports started back up, he took up the challenge of joining the cross country and track teams.
His recent achievements in Track and Field include running 13.1 miles straight in under 90 minutes. This half a marathon run was a huge achievement in his running career and out of 1200+ runners he placed 17th in the whole competition.
All these activities he participates in will help in his future when getting recognized by a college or university. King’s dream career is to become a lawyer, more specifically a state prosecutor.
