With the ongoing pandemic and school closures, seniors are missing out on all of the fun end of the year senior activities, including prom, grad night, the senior assembly, and even an in-person graduation ceremony.
To try and make these seniors feel special, senior Rebecca Townsend came up with an idea to 'stampede' seniors with wooden purple and gold mustangs along with a large sign. Rebecca explained,“My inspiration for this project came from my passion for community service. I wanted to do something that brought joy to my fellow seniors. They all deserve to be celebrated for their hard work and accomplishments."
Rebecca and her mom go to the seniors' houses and surprise them with the large sign and wooden mustangs. This provides seniors with the opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments with their family while also having a photo opportunity in their cap and gown. So far, Rebecca and her mom have stampeded around more than ten seniors while, of course, maintaining social standing while doing so.
For staff member and senior parent, Jennifer Garner, is thankful for Rebecca and her family for delivering the Stampede. "We took the opportunity to have my son, TJ, get in his cap and gown for the first time and take pictures. It was sweet and so emotional. We are forever grateful!"
