Minarets: Ready for the Road

Updated: May 21, 2020

Minarets students are getting ready for the road through the CHP Start Smart Program, which gives a overview of how to get an license and the responsibilities that comes with it. It is a mix of various uniformed officers and volunteers that teach the program.

Officer Luis Lugo was impressed with the turnout and said, ”The first class at Minarets had a strong response, making head way for more programs in the future." Overall, this response will allow for safer drivers in the area as well as a stronger community.

The program also includes the use of their own app, Start Smart. This app not only allows for better training, but allows for accountability of the driver as it can record how the diver is diving and where they are headed. This app is free and available on both Android and Apple devices so give it a look.

Officer Lugo believes that “since the program adds accountability parents are more likely to let their children drive."
