Winter Rally

Updated: May 20, 2020

On Friday, December 8th, the Minarets Leadership put on a winter rally for the whole school. The rally began at 11:05am, which means that we were on rally schedule. As usual, the rally was be run by our Student Body President and Minarets senior, Max Shapiro. The leadership team put together a great rally that everyone enjoyed.

Minarets rally’s are always about having fun and getting the students excited, and the Winter Rally was put on to get us excited about this year’s Winter formal dance. They showed a promotional video and then talked about the details for the dance. But of course the best part of the rallys are the games that leadership sets up for the students. There are typically three or four games where the different grade levels compete against each other.

The first game that was played at this rally was actually played by the teachers, specifically Mr. Hansen, Ms. Urrutia, Mr. Chapman, and Jesse. The object of the game was to fill nylons with balloons and then wear it as a hat. The winner was Ms. Urrutia. Next was the plunger game, which was played by one student from each grade level. The students had to pull themselves across the gym with only plungers. Following the Plunger game was the Banana game, which was played by a group of kids laying down and passing a banana down the line with their feet. Lastly, the leadership team put on the Cup Flip, which was played by team of two racing against another team to flip all the cups over, either right side up, or upside down.

Along with the games, the Minarets Cheer team, coached by Ashley Redman, performed for the whole school. Both JV and Varsity did a great job! They also played the intro videos for both girls and boys soccer, and the videos were well done and cool.

Also, Keagan Mackey, joined with his friends and his girlfriend Ayami Sappington, put together a fake game of blindfolded hacky sack. But when Ayami took of the blindfold, she was happily surprised to see a big sign and Keagan asking her to formal.

The rally was finished off with a multitude of students dancing to Just Dance in the center of the gym. Overall, the rally had a ton of school spirit and was a whole lot of fun!
